Robot for automatic seeding
Problem
A farming company was seeking to replace their existing seeding machine with a more versatile and efficient solution. They required a machine that could seed different seed types and could operate on different types of planting media that they could only do by hand before.
Solution
The company reached out to Nubis to find a solution. Nubis proposed a custom-built seeding robot that met the farming company’s specific needs. They designed a prototype from scratch using an XY coordinate robot that could automatically seed different seed types using replaceable tools (heads) that fit each specific seed types. This allowed the robot to seed a wide variety of crops that they could not under any circumstances do before.
The robot was also designed to operate on different types of planting media, including soil, coco beats, mats and other media types. This made it an ideal solution for the farming company since seeding on media of different size with different spacing was a challenge.
Nubis carried out the whole design of the robot, including electronics, mechanics and software. Nubis designed the unique replaceable tools using 3D printing and invented new ways to stir and seed multiple seeds simultaneously.
The new seeding robot was fully automatic, which allowed the farming company to save time and labor costs, and designed with precision and accuracy in mind, ensuring that each seed was planted at the correct depth and distance from the others.
Conclusion
After a few months, Nubis provided training and support to the farming company of the new robot prototype, ensuring that they were able to operate and maintain the robot effectively and safely. Soon after the older seeding machines were fully replaced by the new robot.
